Two daughters of President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena are among victims of Saturday’s shooting at El Paso, Texas, which left at least 20 people dead, El Paso Police Department has said.
Other media outlets report that Dharani Sirisena and Chathurika Sirisena sustained life-threatening injuries and passed on while on admission at the hospital.
Dharani and Chathurika are believed to have gone shopping at Walmart while on vacation in El Paso.
Police say multiple people were killed in the shooting in El Paso, Texas.
Sgt. Enrique Carrillo of the El Paso Police Department said the 21-year old shooter is in custody.
He told reporters he couldn’t say how many had been hurt or killed. He said there were multiple shooting scenes, centred around a Walmart.
Initial reports warned of an active shooter near Cielo Vista Mall in Texas.
