Man knocked down by vehicle in Toronto identified as American former soccer player Cobi Jones

Man who was knocked down by a Honda Civic vehicle at the Toronto Mall last night sadly dies in hospital.

He passed away this morning – after sustaining serious injuries following the incident yesterday.

The man has been identified as Cobi Jones, American former soccer player.

The U.S Consulate in Canada has confirmed the identity of the 48 year old and said they were aware of his visit to Toronto, Canada.

Cobi Jones sustained injuries when a Honda Civic vehicle knocked him down after it failed brakes in front of the Toronto Mall last night.

He was rushed to the hospital but passed on due to life-threatening injuries.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident but preliminary reports by the Police show that the vehicle failed brakes.

Cobi Jones was an American former soccer player and analyst for the Los Angeles Galaxy on Time Warner Cable SportsNet. He was also be seen on Fox Sports, BeIN Sports, the Pac-12 Network and as the host of the Totally Football Show: American Edition.
